What sets Some Like It Hot! apart from other Dixieland Jazz Bands? The energy and enthusiasm for the music. This enthusiasm spreads quickly to those in the audience as each musician brings his or her own special style and sense of fun to the music.
Some Like It Hot! is a New Orleans Dixieland Jazz Band that was formed from a love of traditional jazz. Members of the band: Kaye Caldwell-Leader-Trumpet, Janice Medlock-Trombone, Eric Shuman-Clarinet, Ron Kennedy-Banjo, Lil Josephine-String Bass, and Nita Hemeter-Drums, all share a love of Traditional Jazz.
The band has become very popular in the past few years and has performed at numerous festivals including the French Quarter Festival, the Satchmo Festival, and the 2006 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. The band performs every Sunday to standing room only crowds at the popular Buffa's Jazz Brunch in New Orleans.
In June of this year the band was invited to perform in Charleston, West Virginia at FestivALL Charleston to a crowd of almost 5000 people. It was a double honor to be included on the program with such outstanding performers as Bob Thompson and Terence Blanchard.
Other travels include performing at the St. Petersburg Cathedral in St. Petersburg, FL to benefit the city of New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina in 2006. The band regularly performs at the Old Point Bar, La Maison de la Musique, and periodically at the Balcony Music Club and Legends Bar on Bourbon Street, as well as other venues around the city of New Orleans.
When not working at local clubs, the band stays busy playing at fundraisers, private parties, corporate events, and weddings.
Some LIke It Hot! continues to steadily pick up a following of fans because of the band's dedication to the vintage songs and their all around sense of fun. Some Like It Hot! is known for giving 100 % in every performance, whether it is a fan of one or a festival of 5000.
